Introductions

It was suggested that I introduce myself so, hi :). I'm Dr. Jean Grey (if you're wanting to make a Grey's Anatomy joke you can go ahead and do it but I've heard them all.)

So...I'm here for the foreseeable future. I work with X-Corps and am on sabbatical from practicing medicine (something I hope to remedy soon by getting a fellowship in the city).

I look forward to meeting and working with a lot of you.

Never heard myself described as "the" anything, but I'll take it.

We're a homey bunch in an in-the-trenches, chaos bonds us together sort of way. (By which, I mean Clarice and Laurie and me. I never know what Dr. Voght is feeling.)

It lends a certain distinction,I think.

There's four? Yep, definitely like being at work. I'm used to a bit of chaos. Hopefully minimal.

What's your specialty?

There aren't many Cecilias in the world to speak of, to be fair, so I think it fits. Gonna leave your chaos comment aside.

Did a fellowship in trauma surgery/critical care at Penn. Lots of GSWs and accidents in Philly. A few other interesting things too. Med school at Columbia, residency out in San Diego.

Hey, I'm optimist, but also a realist. I occasionally need to live in la la land with my wine and Thai food.

Wow, I guess trauma surgery is the hot topic here. I imagine it comes in handy, though.

Wine and Thai. You and I will be friends, I can tell.

Maybe? Truth be told, I just like cutting and the adrenaline rush of emergency surgery. Plus I grew up in the Bronx in the 80s and 90s watching people get gunned down and stabbed, and that obviously shaped my chosen field.

Wine and thai are the holy grail after a long shift.

Makes sense. I'd like to know more about it. I get the sense it's going to be needed.

Where'd you work before you got here?

[identity profile] x-jeangrey.livejournal.com 2015-02-10 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I did a lot of my residency in Washington DC after medical school since they have some hospitals that deal with mutants there. I suppose I have minor specialty in mutant-based medicine, home grown, since they don't have something devoted specifically to that yet.

Then once X-Corps formed in 2012 I headed to Europe to be closer to the team and completed my residency in London. I worked with Moira a bit at Muir during that time on some cases as well.

lol, understatement. We'll see if things quiet down but I doubt it.

Well, you never know. Patterns could change.

That's true. :) But do you believe that?

[identity profile] x-barrier.livejournal.com 2015-02-11 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well. I like to be proven wrong sometimes.

[identity profile] x-jeangrey.livejournal.com 2015-02-11 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. :) Here's to hoping you're wrong.
