xp_phoenix: (Playing with the big boys)
getting permission for this sort of thing takes so much more effort than it used to. I blame Nate.

But, at any rate, permission has been granted for a small field trip this weekend to DC. While it will be smaller (and, I've promised Charles, less riot-filled) than the UN Summit, a number of lectures, debates, discussions and "series of talking points and sound bites disguised as actual lectures" on "the mutant issue" (isn't that nice, we've been downgraded from a problem to an issue) will be going on all weekend. I've been invited to join a round table discussion on Education and the Mutant Issue (and I think the organizers think I'm in favor of completely segregated education... aren't they in for a surprise?), and I know that the NCAA is hosting a lecture on Mutation and the College Athlete. There's also going to be an equal rights debate (mainly focused on the workplace but likely to wander into other territory) which in theory will have an open mic for questions to the speakers (assuming people don't get out of line), and several other events I think you guys will be interested in.

This field trip is open to all of you, students and graduates alike, but please let me know if you want to come. Charles and I will have to make reservations and if there are too many of you I'm going to have to start browbeating requesting chaperoning help from the other staff.
